CORVARA |
| The central town of the Ladini , CORVARA , is primarily a ski resort, and the most visible sign of the language is a page or two in Ladino in local newspapers. Corvara also makes a good base for the excellent trails of the nearby Fánes Park, a bus ride away, where most of the Ladini legends are based. The tourist office at Strada Col Alp 36 (Mon-Sat 9am-noon & 3-6pm, Sun 10am-2pm & 4-6pm; tel 0471.836.176) has details of hotels and rooms in private houses. The Monti Pallidi (tel 0471.836.081; L60,000-90,000/¬30.99-46.48), Strada Col Alp 75, is good value, as is the Laura (tel 0471.836.340; L90,000-120,000/¬46.48-61.98), at no. 44, round the corner, opposite the church. There's also a campsite , Camping Colfosco ( Colfuschg ; tel 0471.836.515; May-Sept & Dec-Easter). A few buses leave for Brunico and Belluno from outside the tourist office. |
