tarquinia

TARQUINIA , about 15km further north, is the most touted of the Etruscan necropoli, and with good reason. As long as it is not overrun with fellow visitors, the site can be quite evocative and the actual town, partly walled and with a crop of medieval towers, is a pleasant place to pass an afternoon. The recently refurbished museum is the finest in the region outside of Rome and should not be missed.
